Physical Exams Q & A

Physical Exams are for established patients only

What are physical exams?

Physical exams at Be Well Medical include evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments for a variety of problems.

The practice offers an array of preventive medicine treatments that reduce your risk of illness, injury, or chronic disease. Dr. Rastegar is a primary care physician who’s highly trained in osteopathic medicine.

What are the benefits of physical exams?

The main benefit of undergoing a physical exam is getting an assessment of your overall health and wellness. Exams allow Dr. Rastegar to detect medical problems early before they turn into something more serious.

You might also need a physical exam to participate in sports, attend school, or begin a job.

What should I expect during a physical exam?

During a physical exam at Be Well Medical, friendly staff members welcome you and often complete the following:

Check of vital signs

Your Be Well Medical provider assesses your weight, body mass index (BMI), pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs if necessary.

Physical exam

Dr. Rastegar reviews your symptoms and medical history, before completing a comprehensive physical exam. She evaluates your eyes, throat, abdomen, breathing, reflexes, heartbeat, and more. She might assess your mental health by asking you a series of questions.

Be Well Medical also provides prostate exams for men and pelvic exams with Pap tests for women.

Diagnostic testing

Dr. Rastegar may recommend a nasal or throat swab test, urine testing, blood tests, heart function tests, X-rays, or other imaging procedures if needed to detect or rule out specific medical problems.

Treatments

If you’re in good health, you likely don’t need treatment. However, Dr. Rastegar offers vaccinations, nutrition counseling, and other preventive medicine services to keep you as healthy as possible.

Other treatments she provides include osteopathic manual medicine for natural pain relief, Suboxone® treatment for opioid addiction, dietary supplements, and medications. She personalizes each treatment to best match your needs.

When should I schedule physical exams?

Schedule physical exams yearly, as directed by Dr. Rastegar, or if you need a physical for sports, camp, or work. Call the office if you experience new or unusual symptoms or have concerns about your health.
